Prayer Wall

As parents, we recognize that this little girl is being knit together in Lori’s womb by the creator of the universe, the one true living God.  Our faith in Jesus Christ is what keeps us going day after day.  While we don’t know why Savannah has these so-called “defects,” we know that God is in control of her future.  The best action we can take right now is to prayer.

In the book of Luke, Jesus does many miracles by healing the sick.

At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Luke 7:21-22 (NIV)

In reading the Apostle Paul’s letter to the church in Philippi, we’re reminded of God’s promise to us regarding prayer.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

Typically, we think of prayers as being spoken, but we’re asking that you’d take the time to write a prayer.  As parents, we’re asking God for Savannah to grow up to live a full, happy and healthy life, if that’s what His will is for her.  We’re hoping that one day, ten to fifteen years from now, we can hand her a book filled with prayers that were written to God on her behalf.  If you would, please take the time to type a prayer for Baby Savannah.  Just type it in the “Leave a reply” section below and click “Submit comment”:

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for blessing Ryan and Lori with this gift of life. I thank you for your peace and comfort in times of uncertainty. I know that you have a plan for little Savannah. You are forming her in your image and likeness and you have a purpose for her, far greater than our minds can comprehend. I’ve questioned why things happen the way they do and have questioned what the purpose of all of this is for, but you have given me peace in knowing that your ways our higher than our ways and you have a special plan and anointing for baby Savannah. I know that you are the great physician and there is NOTHING impossible for you!! And Lord I’m asking in faith, you said if we had just the faith of a grain of mustard seed that you would move the mountains, so I’m asking that you would touch Savannah Joy in the name of Jesus and let your will be done! Lord, not our will, but yours be done! For your glory! You have a purpose for this precious baby girl and I acknowledge your hand upon her life. I pray that you would place a peace in the Hensler household, a peace that passes all understanding. Lord, let us not doubt your faithfulness in the times of uncertainty, but let us cling to the truth of knowing that you are in control and you have a plan. Father, I pray for peace of mind over Ryan and Lori. I pray for blessings over their lives and household. Pour out blessings that they cannot contain! But most of all God, let them feel your love on a continual basis, to know that they are in the palm of your hand. God I know for a fact, that you have anointed baby Savannah even now, and that you have BIG plans for her. Continue to mold and make her in the way you see fit. Let her life bring glory to your name! Use her in a mighty way to touch people and draw them to you. Let our faith not be shaken or grow weary, but let it continually increase by knowing that you are in control and you are holding her in the palm of your hand. I love you Lord and I thank you for the miracles that you have already done and WILL DO in baby Savannah’s life! In Jesus precious name I pray, Amen.

I started my life in God’s hands at Riley Hospital for children. My mother had worked there. I am still going (too fast sometimes) strong at 66. God knows you love her and will help you to be strong.

  7. Diane says:

Heavenly Father, with a heavy heart I come to You and ask that You continue to comfort Ryan and Lori. As a parent, I know that we tend to worry over the unknown and what is to be. Please grant them the peace, security and faith in You that they will need to get through this journey. With You, all things are possible, so I ask that You Bless them and Baby Savannah with great physicians that may help heal this special little girl.

  8. BUD FIELDS says:

Ryan and Lori… My ENTIRE family sends prayers your way for your daughter and both of you to find STRENGTH and FAITH in the challenging times ahead. Our great-granddaughter was born with a heart defect and when she was 4 months old, they performed open-heart surgery on her. They said her heart was the size of a half dollar and the hole in her heart was slightly larger than a dime. The surgeons at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis were MAGNIFICENT. Our great-granddaughter is just over two years old now and you would NEVER know she EVER had ANY issues at all. STAY STRONG and POSITIVE.. I can give you my granddaughter’s contact information if you need MORE information. IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT watching her “go down hill” and it was STRESSFUL seeing her during recuperation BUT…. she is the PERFECT HEALTHY BABY TODAY.

PRAYERS AND BEST WISHES TO YOU..
    Bud Fields

  9. John says:

Precious Heavenly Father, Creator of all things good. May this be a day of miracles for Savannah, may You touch her and grow her in ways that are beyond our comprehension. Father, find us righteous that you may hear our prayers, turn our temporary sorrows and fears into Your glory and joy. Father, win this day for Savannah and extend you peace to Ryan and Lori. In the name of the Risen Christ, amen.

  10. Furr Family says:

I just wanted you guys toknow that you have prayers coming your way from the Furr family. We are expecting our first and I cannot imagine what you are going through. My husband was born with a serious heart condition, is a hemophiliac and without a spleen. He had two open heart surgeries and spent a lot of time in Riley’s childrens hospital. He had a long recovery time from his surgeries due to his lack of spleen and his bleeding disorder but his parents are amazing and always made everything ok for him. I hope your sweet baby does well throughout her journey and we will continue to pray for you all!

    Sincerely,
    Annie and Charles Furr

Father God, I pray for Lori and Ryan to feel your presence during the hours of labor needed to bring Savannah into this world. They’ve waited so long for this day, and prayed so fervently for the health of their precious baby girl. Hold them in your hand, and give them strength and peace. Guide the doctors, nurses, and caregivers to give Savannah a safe journey into her parents’ loving arms. I ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  12. Christy Kushman says:

    Dear God,
As Savannah begins her life outside the womb, please hold her in your loving hands. Help Lori and Ryan to remain calm, loving parents as they are asked to make hard decisions. Give wisdom to the various medical teams, that they may recommend the best path in such a way that Lori and Ryan see it is your will. Give Savannah the fight to take on the world, attitude to make it through every trial, and love to share with all those who care for her. Wrap this new family in love and care as only You can do.
    In Jesus’ name we pray,
    Amen.

  15. Penny says:

Precious heavenly Father, I pray u would pour your healing Spirit out on Savannah, drench her in it like annointed oil. We know that you endured unspeakable pain and suffering so that we can call on your name and believe in complete healing. I have seen a baby who had no kidneys or bladder in utero be born with fully functioning organs, and continue to see her thrive as a happy healthy 2 year old. You have proven yourself to us many times over. God I pray that it is your will that baby Savannah will be a miracle proclaiming your Glory as well. God, wrap your loving arms around her parents and give them strength no matter what your plan is. To God be the Glory! Amen!

  16. Lauren says:
